April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 in seventh grade. She began playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons, sparking her love for writing songs. At the age of 12 April wrote her very first song Different. She spent lots of the time of 14 writing songs and practicing music. After that, she started taking journeys to write with her father in NY as well as LA. She also started to write about additional topics that were related to of her classmates who struggle in the area of social pressure and teenager suicide, as in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart has a partnership with the well-known clean beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer with her own large following. Yes, she was born without a left hand. It is what makes her different. However, this isn't the only aspect that makes her unique. Lockhart isn't shy about mentioning her disability on her Instagram account, but she doesn't concentrate on the account. The main message? The message is that our identities are complex and that we're far more than just our physical self. Lockhart has stated on video that she does not want to be defined by the condition she has. She does not want to work as a disability advocate who only talks about that. There are so many aspects to Lockhart. The fact that it's not affecting my normal life. I just do everything normally and I've found my own method of adjusting the things. It's also part of me which is why I think it's important that we talk about. Lockhart is a great example for self-acceptance generally and is currently on a lengthy path to reach this. Still she admits she's gone through a few phases of her body, at times feeling insecure to wear specific types of clothes which accentuated her arms. She wears whatever she wants and is proud to post pictures of her in the outfits she selects to share on social networks. It's a journey is the key thing I don't know that you ever arrive in self-love. But I think that's with all people, regardless of what their fear may be. People you spend time by who are truly yours, and can see into your heart, are those that remind you of about the importance of your life.
